Promethean Structures LLC

Promethean Structures

Promethean Structures LLC ("Promethean") is a new company created to use sustainable, energy-efficient building solutions to meet the demand for new residential and commercial construction.

Promethean was first formed to revitalize New Orleans neighborhoods ravaged by the flood waters resulting from the levee failures after Hurricane Katrina. The demand for energy efficient, storm-resistant building solutions outside of New Orleans has prompted Promethean to expand its operations to include the entire Gulf Coast – Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas – where multiple opportunities exist to use energy-efficient building techniques to replace storm damaged homes and commercial buildings.

The Company believes that the best way to improve the energy efficiency of any structure is to construct a tighter building “envelope” to reduce air loss and improve structural integrity. For this reason, the Company’s primary focus is on the use and distribution of structural insulated panels ("SIPS").

The Company was recently selected by the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority to acquire Road Home lots for construction of new single-family homes in Oak Park. We have been working with NORA and the Oak Park Civic Association for several months to build a shared plan for the revitalization of Oak Park. Promethean is now developing house plans, in cooperation with the Oak Park Civic Association, to insure that new homes maintain the look and feel of the neighborhood pre-Katrina.

Additionally, Promethean has provided SIPS to the Make It Right Foundation in New Orleans for use in four of its energy-efficient homes in the Lower 9th Ward. Each of these homes has been, or will be, awarded LEED Platinum Certification – the highest energy efficiency rating possible. The Company is continuing to work with the Make It Right Foundation to provide these storm-resistant, energy-efficient panels for future homes.

Promethean’s goal is to not only be a leading homebuilder and developer of energy efficient homes along the Gulf Coast, but to also be a long-term contributor to the ongoing revitalization and success of these neighborhoods.
